St Paul with Emmanuel

The Parish of St. Paul with Emmanuel has its origins in the urban growth which took place as a result of the growth in cotton manufacture and processing in the nineteenth century. This resulted in the need for a large increase in housing stock. A large number of church buildings were constructed in the area between the years 1839 and 1881 to meet the spiritual needs of the growing population.
SPE Meeting on the premises on a regular basis are All Saints Asian Christian Church, speaking in Punjabi and Urdu; and a French speaking Congolese Church. Weekly church activities include a ‘Knit and Natter’ group on Wednesdays, followed by lunch and Parish Prayer on Thursday evening.
